Bird Survey Team

Headed up by Ian and Margaret Langdon, a scientific survey is carried out each month (on a Sunday morning) at Karkarook Park. The survey documents the diversity of species and the numbers of birds throughout Karkarook Park. Separate counts are taken in the lake, ponds and woodlands.

The survey is shared with Parks Victoria and Birdlife Australia and contributes to the national database providing base data for research. Over time, these local results are an important indicator of the health of Karkarook Park.

Rhiannon joined the team some months ago, and is thrilled with the new skills she is acquiring.

There is a great need spread the knowledge and skills base further and we have the people keen to share that knowledge.
