How is Friends of Karkarook Park Funded:

Friends of Karkarook Park Incorporated  (FoPK) is a not-for-profit incorporated  association .

Parks Victoria provide annual 'Volunteer Group Support '  (reduced this year from the usual $1500 to $500)  which is managed by Parks Victoria.  We have license from Parks Victoria to operate the nursery at Karkarook Park and conduct approved activities with the park.
The annual funding covers propagation consumables, hand garden tools and PPE equipment.
Any requirements beyond these essentials are funded by grants from other sources and by donations.
Membership fees are nominal  and  barely cover government charges   What is left over is used for refreshments (water!) at working bees.

Where  Do Donated Funds Go?

Occasionally they supplement  volunteer refreshments with tea , coffee, and biscuits although these are often supplied by members themselves.

Mostly, donated funds are spent on:  tree stakes,  maintenance of the shade houses and heated seedling bed and mini hothouses.  Also general maintenance  of sheds and nursery compound.   Recently,  power garden tools and batteries have been purchased.   We are planning to acquire a shipping container to upgrade the security for our tool storage as we've had several break-ins and thefts from our current tool shed.

 NOTE:  We are not registered for GST,  We do not have Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR).  We are not a registered fundraising organisation.
